Transfer of State Plantations to Beneficiary Communities
Government increases funding for Land Reform and Restitution programme
Government increased funding for the Land Reform and Restitution programme from R5.70 billion in 2024/25 to R6.17 billion in 2025/26, with a projected R6.53 billion in 2026/27. Within the programme, funding for Land Redistribution and Tenure Reform increased from R1.12 billion in 2024/25 to R1.32 billion in 2025/26, with a further increase to R1.38 billion projected for 2026/27.
R559 million allocated for the acquisition and allocation of 44,000 hectares of land
The Land Redistribution and Tenure Reform branch has been allocated a total budget of R1.073 billion, including R559 million earmarked for the acquisition and allocation of 44,000 hectares of land. The allocation provides funding for land redistribution as part of government’s land reform programme
