Chongwe Mayor and 3 others Suspended over land allegations
Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo has suspended the Chongwe Mayor and all councillors for 90 days amid allegations of land alienation. He appointed Chelstone Hamulyata as Local Government Administrator to manage the council during this period. Nkombo announced that Hamulyata would form a task force, including the Zambia Police, ACC, DEC, and his Ministry, to investigate the allegations. The government, led by President Hakainde Hichilema, is committed to ensuring development across the country while upholding the rule of law.
